Respondent Postcard
In collaboration with Victoria Police, SFH has created a multi-lingual resource as a co-ordinated response addressing language and cultural barriers faced by CALD Respondents to family violence intervention orders (“FVIOs”). The resource is in the form of a postcard with information translated into Arabic, Somali and Vietnamese languages.
The project’s aim is to reduce breaches of intervention orders by ensuring that at the earliest possible stage, Respondents are aware of the availability of free legal advice and other appropriate referrals. Since May 2016, Victoria Police have attached the Respondent postcards to family violence intervention orders served upon Respondents residing in the City of Moonee Valley.
