Safe from Harm began as a joint project between the Moonee Valley Legal Service (MVLS) and Flemington & Kensington Community Legal Centre (FKCLC), in collaboration with a range of non-legal agencies, aimed at reducing the high levels of domestic violence in the Flemington and Ascot Vale housing estates.

This project was generously funded by the Legal Services Board from 2013 - 2015 and provided a culturally-specific service to CALD communities on both housing estates. The project employed two experienced family violence lawyers to provide casework, legal education and community development services to each housing estate.

The project then received funding for the 2015-2017 period from the Victorian State Government to continue its valuable work and extend the service to the entire City of Moonee Valley as well as the suburbs of Flemington and Kensington. A further grant of funding from the Victorian State Government in late 2017 is enabling the project to continue to employ our two family violence lawyers for another two years to provide much needed culturally specific family violence services to our local communities.
